After another vicious round of closet purging, I am down to a small (for me) wardrobe of things I will actually wear. It's made it a lot easier to see what is missing and what I would like to make over the next few months.
One of the biggest holes in my closet is my sweater stash. Last year I had The Cashmere Revelation and haven't been able to stomach acrylic since. All I want is natural fibers, as cozy and soft as possible. Which is why I can't stop thinking about knitting. I am a cold weather knitter but haven't made anything more complicated than a scarf since the ill-fated Wrap Sweater Incident of 2003. This is going to change starting immediately.
I'm on the hunt for cool, modern knitting patterns. I've spent hours trolling on Ravelry trying to find projects that don't scream "handmade"; if I'm going to spend hours and hours (and maybe months, knowing how slow these things can go) on a sweater, I want it to be something I would actually buy. I'm talking luxurious materials (silk, cashmere, buttery soft wool) and an interesting silhouette.
