Meet the Thérèse Track Pants — Your New Favourite Pants Pattern

Therese Track pants by Closet Core Patterns-16

Meet the Thérèse Track Pants—our new pattern this month and possibly our most wearable pattern of the year so far. Inspired by the chic track pants we've been seeing everywhere, from street style to runways, Thérèse is a quick-and-easy sew that's both a great canvas for beautiful fabrics and an effortless addition to your wardrobe.

The Design

Thérèse is designed for drapey woven fabrics like Tencel, cupro, viscose, and silk—these aren't your average sweatpants. They combine the ease and comfort of traditional knit track pants with the sophisticated drape of tailored trousers. The mid-rise, wide-leg silhouette is relaxed without looking sloppy, while an integrated topstitched waistband delivers both comfort and a clean, polished finish. Invisible inseam pockets keep the lines sleek and functional, and an optional faux welt back pocket adds a sophisticated, tailored detail.

We're imagining wearing these with tees and tanks all summer as a cooler alternative to sweats, then layering with sweaters and jackets come fall to ease back into structured pants. The elastic waistband makes them as comfortable as pajamas, but the elevated details ensure you look more boardroom than bedroom.

View A channels vintage Adidas with applied trim along the side seams. This is a fun opportunity to play with decorative ribbons; we especially love velvet, grosgrain and satin finishes. Customize the width, placement and number of stripes for a custom look.

View B introduces a contrasting side-seam insert for a vertical effect without applied trim. Simply choose a contrast fabric (mix prints or colours!) and add an optional invisible zipper at the hem for a bit of movement and drama.

Suggested Fabrics for Thérèse

Thérèse is designed for light to midweight wovens with good drape — think Tencel/Lyocell twill, cupro, viscose, and silk. These are the fabrics that give the wide-leg silhouette, beautiful fluid movement and make the pants feel elevated rather than casual. Stable knits like ponte can also work, but plan to size down 1–2 sizes.

For View A, grab your ribbon trim of choice in addition to your fabric. View B sewists who want the optional zipper hem splits will need two short invisible zippers, as well as two different fabrics.
