Introducing the Montreal Lounge Pattern Collection!

Mile End Sweatshirt pattern | Sweatshirt & hoodie pattern by Closet Core Patterns

Folks, it has been a true journey to get here! We've been working on the ultimate lounge set for months and months, and getting these patterns into your hot little hands has been a wild ride, in between extreme Covid lockdown measures in Montreal, major supply chain issues, illness and last-minute customs/border drama that forced us to push back our launch for weeks. Finally, here we are! Able to talk about our Montreal mini lounge collection, two patterns inspired by our beloved city, designed to be equally at home snuggling on the couch or out and about running errands. Best of all, we've expanded our size range even further, with these two designs the first to be made available in sizes 14-32 (previously we went up to 30). Let's dig in!

THE MILE END SWEATSHIRT

Naturally given how much time we've spent at home, this past year has been allllll about comfort, and we challenged ourselves to design stylish loungewear that felt more elevated than the average set of sweats. Our Mile End Sweatshirt is our twist on the classic crew neck sweatshirt, inspired by one of the hippest neighborhoods in Montreal (come for the bagels, stay for the people watching). It's got a slouchy, oversized fit, but with architectural appeal by way of angled seam lines and a curved back yoke. I'm obsessed with the two-piece sleeve, shaped with a couple of elbow darts. These aren't details you typically see in knits, but they give this silhouette a little magic.

You know we love to have fun with variations! We added an optional fabric tie that allows you to gather the sweatshirt at the hem, a lovely detail that transforms a sporty sweatshirt into something - dare I say? - soft and romantic. We also created a unique hoodie option, with a deep cross-over neckline and kangaroo pocket, perfect for layering over a sports bra or tank.

While we designed this pattern to pair with our Plateau Joggers, we think you'll love wearing your Mile End pieces with jeans and leggings too (or how cute layered over a slip dress?!) and we can't wait to see y'all have fun with colour blocking!

THE PLATEAU JOGGERS

Plateau Joggers | Lounge pants and shorts pattern by Closet Core Patterns

Next up, our Plateau Joggers, inspired by another vibrant, diverse and bustling neighborhood in Montreal. Our joggers are the ultimate in sleek, cozy comfort, with an elastic waist, high rise and relaxed fit. These are my dream joggers - not too tight, not too baggy, just right. We wanted to give you some hem options, so the pants can be completed with a hem band (using matching ribbing or self fabric), or tapered with an elastic finish for a sportier look. We didn't want a baggy ankle so the inseam is not overly long; we suggest checking finished garment measurements to ensure the length works for you without adjustments.

We also designed a super fun short with a scalloped hem, which kind of give me 70s Dazed & Confused vibes (someone please style these with knee-high tube socks!) Both views feature a unique wrap-around pocket and optional back pockets, and we suspect if you're anything like us you'll want to make multiple pairs and wear them nonstop.

As I mentioned, these are the first patterns in our newly-expanded 14-32 range. Our customer service guru Monserratt encouraged us to look into pushing our size range even further (she's also the beauty modelling in these images!) and we were delighted to discover it was possible. We will be working over the coming months to add this new size to all existing patterns in our extended size range, and all future patterns will come in 0-20 (print and PDF) and 14-32 (PDF). Some of you may remember that in a newsletter this month I mentioned we had a free pattern we were launching with this collection, but I decided to hold off for the time being, since I'd like to add a few options to that design before we release it into the wild.

Finally, we're offering a limited-time sale when you buy both patterns at the same time. Until Monday, April 5th, get 15% off when you bundle both patterns together in our Print bundle or PDF bundle (the discount cannot be applied to individual patterns).

ps. A big thank you to Telio for supplying all the fabrics we used to make our samples! Telio is a wholesaler and doesn't sell direct to consumers, but your local shop may carry one of their many knit and fleece lines.
