One of the details on our latest pattern, the Mitchell Trousers, is optional welt pockets on the rear. Borrowed from traditional menswear, welt pockets add a layer of sophistication to any garment while also adding functionality. While these mysterious openings can seem tricky, with a little know-how, they are a straightforward addition to just about any pattern. We wrote a blog post on how to sew a welt pocket specific to our Sasha trousers (another great office wear staple) if you are the type to like written/photo instructions here and the process for these pockets is exactly the same as the ones on Mitchell.
VIDEO TUTORIAL
We also made a Youtube tutorial for these which we've included here for those of you who like to learn that way. Either way, we hope you are not hesitant to try welt pockets on any future garments, they add so much and are really doable!
