Blazer of Glory Challenge Week 3: Cut Fabric, Interface and Mark Pattern Pieces

Week three of our #blazerofglory challenge begins! Once you’ve got all your supplies and fabrics in order and have fine-tuned your muslin for our Jasika Blazer, hopefully you’re ready to start cutting and prepping your pattern pieces! This is probably going to feel like the most time-consuming part of the process. There are a lot of pattern pieces to manage, so my advice is to take your time and carefully note each piece with a label or post-it so you don’t get confused. Then mentally prepare for a few hours to interface your pieces. Put on a podcast or your favourite TV show and try to enjoy the process for the meditative act of mindfulness it can be 🙂

Once all your pieces are interfaced (and don’t forget to soften the lines of partial interfacing with your pinking shears!) you can add your tailor’s tacks. Once all your pieces are prepped and ready to go, you’ll be ready for next week when we start actual construction.

This week’s prize is a beauty: The Starter Set from Merchant and Mills! This is a collection of gorgeous tools from one of our favourite sewing companies. We love how beautifully packaged everything is and know one of you will be delighted to get this in the mail!

To reiterate: for a chance at this week’s prize, use our #blazerofglory hashtag on an Instagram post or @tag us in your story during your prep and cutting adventures this week! We’ll pick a winner next Monday when we announce the next week’s prompt. Happy prepping!
